Recently i wanted to change my X5's back boxes for something more free-flowing and decided to go the straight through route. Asked around but nobody seems to have done it before. Anyway, got some quotes from the local Supaquick but was warned that the car was going to be noisy. Nearly got put off my idea, but was given the tip to go see Powerflow or Scorpion for a quote as these guys are renowned for making up special systems for customers. Went to see Powerflow and they quoted R2000 for new stainless steel with single outlets. I bought some 64mm stainless pipe from them for the outlets and departed. When i got home i went to see Hi-Q and the guy quoted me R1250 all inclusive. Well, i bit the bullet and had it done the same week. The car sounds very different when starting as it sounds as if it is breathing much better (which it is). Upon driving it it is slightly more loud but when cruising it has a very very slight drone, but my wife who would normally ask about any funny noise did not make any comment. Did about 2000 km the next week with it and it did not bother me one bit. Am still trying to determine if it is more economical but it feels more responsive. I made one mistake when i did the setup and that is that i should have gone for the twin outlet per side, but only realized afterwards that the single inlet/twin outlet boxes would have not been much more expensive than the single inlet/single outlet that is currently on the car (and i did not think of going double at the time).
