What effect will decatt and s/w have on a M3's reliability in the long run?

Sorry if its a stupid question, but the most i have done to a car is put bigger wheels....
If i do s/w and want to change it back will it be possible? And who can i go to for the decatt and how much will i be in for?

What effect will decatt and s/w have on a M3's reliability in the long run?

I've been told that in terms of reliability, decat SHOULD improve it, as the cats usually start clogging up any time after 100K-150K KM.

Thanks for all the info guys, 1 more thing, if they decat do they open the oem cats and gut them or do they replace the middle section of the exhaust system?

I would have the cats replaced with resinators instead of gutting them. that way you can revert back to cats in the future

Is your car still under motorplan? if your km's are low then the decat isnt going to gain much power.

No, its just out of plan and ive had low milage M3's before and this one doesnt feel as free reving as my previous ones. It also has a funny smell inside if it stands for a week or more and the agents have told me its the cats that is clogging up?? So i bought the middle section off a accident car with about 88000kms on it and the smell is still there and no diffirence in performance... Its not slow, so it might also be in my head??(Except for the funny smell)

Yes diagnostics will be a starting point....

It revs to the red line no problem, it just feels tight. But i will start with a diagnostic test to check the airflow meter, Thanks
