The answer should be obvious, now if you want another answer, do the same post on the VW forum:biglol:

I love the E46 M3, maybe best car ever, but i voted for the Gti. Please take time and talk to some guys on the forum who has E46 M3's. My dear friend.. to maintain that beauty.. its a bugger. I mean special oil replacements of almost 2 grand, everything is 2 x the normal price, just go to a Bmw dealership and ask how much a clutch replacement would cost.. then you have your answer.. ok Gti, turbos can give problems but there are thousands out there with parts widely available,,,

Yea, the results of the Poll are completely skewed. The majority will answer E46 M3 because it is by far the better car. Which is going to be less of a mission to buy and own, well quite honestly that will be the GTI.

Don't expect realistic and objective responses, after all, I voted for the m3 ;)

If you buy the GTi and turn your head when a 4pipe drives past... At that exact moment you'll know if you bought the wrong car or not.
Hell I'll even take a E36 M3 :praise:

I say GTI. Just because i think for your age its safer. Not that im in a position to judge you or would know of your driving skills but i think take the GTI, which should have the same power as my 328i, which i even think is too powerful when i got it at the age of 21, and build your GTI up and get use to the power.

Then get a RWD M3.

As a daily? MK5

As a toy? M3 and 10k/year in a maintenance slush fund

The M3 will always be the better option, but as mentioned the Gti would cost less to maintain. I have owned a e36 M3 and loved the thing to bits, what a machine. I currently own a Golf MKV GTI (BWA) and I must say that its great fun. Its great to drive a car with boost. I must also say that its also about being practical. The M3 is a 2 door, GTI has more space if you want to have kids someday.LOL, That is my reason for buying one. The GTI also comes with a spare wheel. The M has to have runflats fitted which are costly. If its about speed then yes, you can make a GTI faster than an M3 with a lot of mods, but you will loose reliability. Dude, my skin still crawls when I see a clean 4 pipe. Still love the car. One day I would also like to get back into an M. At the end of the day MPOWER still Rules !:praise:
