Pros

Car sounds fantastic. If you love the rasp you get around 4000rpm imagine that starting from 2000rpm and being around 2-3 times louder.

Car seems to have a little more low down torque.

Cons

You need to fit cat foolers (tiny cats that screw onto the O2 sensors)

If not, then the car will run richer than normal. Heavier on fuel, but won't go into limp mode. It does through a code on diagnostics but it's pretty much ops normal.

LoL

Only the US spec had cats in the headers. Our euro headers don't have cats in them.

So to answer their question it's the only cats that the car has that need to be removed, aka the secondary cats if you will.

Hi Andy

Planning on decatting the car tommorow and wanted to find out the guy at the place im having the car decat said that cat foolers are not required they normally decat without them. Would you advise it best to fit the cat foolers as I dnt want the car to become very heavy on fuel.

Fit them while the exhaust is down. You would hate to pay for the labour twice. The car will run more economical with them fitted, I don't care what people say. Only if you have software can you go without them.

Without cat foolers, you will get a CEL light (Check Engine Light). There is software that can be loaded to ignore the CEL light, but everytime you run diagnostics on your car, you will get a "secondary 02 sensor failure, after Cat" error.

My car is decatted, but I don't have CAT foolers installed. I do however have had the software loaded to delete the CEL light, but the car does run richer, then again, I'm supercharged, so more fuel is fine for me. Easier to install the cat foolers. Listen to Andy, he is the man and knows what he's talking about.

Good luck.

Hi Guys, I need some advice, I removed the cats from my e46 m3 and now when I drive with my windows or sunroof open I am getting a exhaust kind of fuel smell, on top of this I no longer have the cats, please could someone advise what should I do, I spoke to power pipes and they said that cat foolers don't work on e46 m3. Does anybody have 2 x catalytic convertors for sale.

That smell is all too normal for catless cars.

The expensive route is importing Catted pipes from one of the manufacturers in the states.

As mentioned, this is a con of going catless on the 46 M3. There was a guy from Liatros on this forum who used to supply the foolers. The search should bring up his details .

Have u disabled the following when removing the cats :
1. cat heating sequence?
2. SAP
3. cat enrichment procedure

If u didn’t do the above three your car will overfuel all the time especially on cold starts .

Don’t listen to the experts who say decat the car it will be fine.
