E46 Issues

Hi Guys and Girls

A friend at work has a E46 and has the following issues:
1. His buttons on the key remote have stopped working, it was supposed to charge when plugged in but does not work any longer. We are unsure if the issue is because the charging system is faulty or if the battery is completely dead. He does not have the spare key.
2. When turning to manually open the door with the key, the key system\lock just turns around. He had tried to strip it open and thinks that they lock is not turning on the inside mechanism but only on the outside.

I have tried to upload a photo of the Key and Door handle + lock but it says file missing.

My button also stopped working however luckily it opens manually.

They should invest in a new key best option.

Any idea how much a new key is or if it is possible to fix?

from R1200 for a new key depending where you are are and who you go too

Repair lock - depending its a case of worn out of one or two components need replacing - strip and refit from R800

New lock will be much more...........:skit:

Who should i refer him to? He does not want to spend crazy BMW Workshop money.
