i paid 1k; my warranty covered 50%. so i was charged 2k.....:argh:

Man, we need a post for approximate prices on repairs.

Note that R800 is for labour only.

Best thing is to shop around without prejudice.
Get a quote without telling them you have warranty.

Holly sh...t R800. F... I did 2 E46's for free, and with a bit af arm strength I got them of easy. and bit of rubber grease put the New ones on. Man its easy and Both cars I did they did not even have to set the wheel alingment with the myle bushes when they went for a check

The Pollypart one is good but it will wear out the Ball joints quicker on the lower control arm. Your car will handle better but you will have more road feel like a race car. they also dont look pritty but who sees it anyway. I even have a spare set from poly parts lying in my garage which I did not fit after doing my research. I fitted the Myle bushes

The choice is yours and both options will work

So you reckon that the Meyle Bushes is the best option in the long run, even at about double the price of the others?
Would just like to take the best option.

Thats a choice that you have to make. As I said, I even have a set from polyparts laying in the garage not used, maybe one day when im a bit low on cash ill put them in but they are very hard. Or help out a friend or sell them. The Myele ones are the same price as the agents but you can see the differince in qaulity and they feel slightly havier(more Rubber). My Car feels better with them than the origanal ones.

Ive seen agents put in New bushes and then when you test it they are just as bad as the old ones(My L/H New bush). It hapend to me under motorplan still. They installed them and when i checked by putting your foot on top of the wheel and rocking it back and forward the wheel is not allowed to move execively in the wheel arch. They were replaced on 105k by agents(under motorplan to 110k) and on 155k I had to replace them again and this I did with the Myele produckt and 170k still going as the day I installed them

Just got back from Polyparts where they fitted the bushes and replaced the rubbers at the end cos one of them was torn. All in all R370 for the lot. My brother was so kind to remove arms for me as I did not have all the necessary tools to do it. It will be fitted again by him.
Thanks for all the info. and I will report back on the handling of the car.

What I do not understand is why do the agents keep on using parts that they know is not doing the job right, when there is better parts available.
Guess the more it breaks, the more money they make.

There you go you got the awnser they have to make money. And Driving your Car 25k on the same oil and filter is madness. Let alone liftime for Diff and Gearboxes. They want them to brake

My Nephews X5 4.8is gearbox packed up on 55k. Luckily motorplan paid. they could not replace it for they dont have stock overseas and dont manufacture them anymore so ZF- overhauld it completly and replaced all the parts inside. The ZF gerbox Rep told him its madness for you to run a lifetime on oil and recomend you change the oil in an X5 every 55k. Manual cars and not high performance cars so 80 -90k replace the oil!!!!

Ok, where can I get diff oil and how much ($$ and litres)?
Apparently it is a straightforward job to replace the diff oil on an E46

At the agents or where ever you can find Castrol XO if I recall corectly. it is the OEM Diff oil. I wont mess aroud to much with other brands. Use the OEM oil. For my manual gearbox I took a chance and use Redline ATF

Let us Know how those Bushes feel

Ok, so fetched my car yesterday and man! what a difference.
Much less feedback from the road. Handling is much firmer and I like it. Even going over a speedbump and up a kerb is way much smoother.
Much better than even the OEM stuff the stealers put in.
Those poly bushes did the trick.
Take that :fishwack: you stealers

Hey guys,

I spent most of yesterday sorting out my car. Damn those bushes made a huge difference to the car. Feels much better and more stable.

If you guys are around the Pretoria area I would strongly advise going to these guys. (Syds suspension Parts). Speak to Syd. Very professional with a top class workshop.

They charged me R990 for the heavy duty bush with fitment and wheel alignment.

The Normal price is R1300 but he will give us on this club a discount.

Wish I'd seen this thread earlier, was in Pretoria. Went to Motorvision and they told me my bushes are like marshmallows :fencelook:

Polys or HD? My car's dancing all over the place...:fencelook:
