Hi fellow Fanatics, hoping that you may be able to shed some light on a problem I'm having. my 2004 330i with 165K on the clock has started using water at a rate of about 1 liter per 500km's. I have replaced the pressure bottle after it cracked. I have double checked all hose connectores and there are no visible leaks or sighns of blow out. When I replaced the pressure bottle I never replaced the cap. Thanks.

Check the black plastic thermostat housing or the water pump, they are common leak areas.

@ Gizmo where is the plastic housing ? (standing in front, is it on the LHS ?)
Mine is sweating from there as well, but not hectic, i noticed dry coolant and the car hardly takes water.

Hi, temp gage went up slightly when it cracked, but never a mayor overheat. switched off very quickly. checked around the water pump and thermostat housing, and no apperent signs of leaking there either. checked the oil for any sign's of water, also clear.
