E46 328i Hot Air Vents

The car has been blowing hot air from vents some time. The technicians are saying that it is the control unit on the inside that is on the blink. A new one from BMW R18000. I am sure that this is repairable any ideas?

Sounds more like the solenoid that allows hot coolant to flow through the heater matrix is stuck open, its a common problem. The solenoid sits down behind the airbox in the engine bay, its needs stripping and cleaning.

Thanks Rudi and Gizmo, I was wondering why my car was doing this as well, not fun in the Lowveld at all! :RedNo:

also check the outside air temp on your cluster display mine was misreading causing the heater to come on because it thought the outside air was very cold

mine was just a loose connector so I just cleaned it to resolve the problem
