E46 325ti info

Hi guys

I'm finishing my studies this year & I'll be buying my first car.

I've got my eye on a black 2002 E46 BMW 325ti with 105k on the clock for R105000.

Now I'd like to know are there any recurring issues/problems with this model? Anything thats generally a problem or becomes a problem.

What does the services cost & when should the mayor services be done?

Thanks for any & all suggestions/advice/replies.

Cheap to maintain, reliable and a good allround car. Sold ours at 165k km's and only replaced the clutch. NOTHING else except services.
Only complaint is the rattly rear parcel shelf.

What was the fuel consumption like? Or should'nt I be asking. haha. I guess anything is better than that M5 beast of yours! I watched the last youtube vid you posted, damn that thing sounds aggressive. :clap:

The ti was awesome. On mixed cycle you could get her to 9.5l/100km. On trips to durbs I've hit 7.

I was toying with keeping the ti when we bought the 135i and slap a fat turbo on it. In hindsight I think I should have

The consumption aint bad at all. I expected much worst. I guess it depends on how much I'm going to push her in the beginning. :excited:

What should be replaced @ the 100k service?

Depends on wheter its an oil service ir an inspection service. I've got a diesel, so it might differ quite a bit from the petrol services, but mine went for R800 oil service and up to R2400 for the inspection service.
Additionally you might want to check LCAB's - R2000 and maybe brakes - R2000

Mechanically the cars in a good condition.

There's a few scratches & chips on the doors & bumpers, but nothing mayor & nothing a panel beater won't be able to fix.

The only thing thats problematic atm is the service record. It shows only two services & the pre-delivery inspection was done in 2000 (this is a 2002 model).The friend of mine also said it looks as if it's the record of another car. :bawling:

I guess this will only lead to tears in the future if I decided to take it. FFS.

There are plenty of 325ti's on the road. Bad service history is a no-no. Especially during motorplan.
Walk away.

Yeah I guess so. It's just a bloody pity I can't get any in Bloem & there's not a lot on carfind/autotrader/autobuy etc.


Do you guys know of any places in Joburg that might be able to help me out? I've got my heart set on this car & I'm pretty much heart broken now.

There's one place here that got a Metallic blue 325i 2001 for R109000, but the km's are too high for my liking. 153k on the ODO.
