E46 320D Unknown fault on diagnosis

I had my brothers 05' 320D on a diagnostic machine and the errors that came up were "glow plugs(which i know what that is) and Generator fault(that is the confusing bit.
does anybody know what that means because the car is super heavy on diesel.any suggestions and ideas will be appreciated.

Hi just want to ask if how did u get on with the
generator fault generated in your bros 320d? I was
Told that it is an alternator issue. I also have 4 glow plug
Codes which I don't have any problem. Let me know

Alternator makes the most sense

Sorry just want to re state my last 2 sentence as theirs a typo
error. I have 4 glow plugs which are also read as faulty aside
From the generator fault code. Thanks
