E46 320d to E83 X3

I have an option to upgrade(or downgrade...) to a 2003 2.0diesel Sportspack X3 from my current 2003 320d. Good or bad? Early X3's have been criticized for a harsh ride, but I recon the X has got more bootspace than the 320d. It's either this, or I buy a double cab hilux. I need space now for the little one.

besides a little bit more headroom, the X3 is pretty much the same size inside as the e46. Maybe just a little more in lines of boot space. why not look at a 3.0D X5, you can get some very nice ones for about R170-R200k odd

The drawpoint of this model is, like the E46, it's a diesel which means some good consumption and a load of usable torque.

Calypso's step mother has a 3.0d and apparently they are pretty nice cars.

Yeah its a nice car. Warps its brakes alot for some reason but otherwise very nice.

X3 is not too bad, I test drove one. It's got more power than your current 320d, 130kW vs 110kW and more torque as well. Nice to cart laaities' chairs, prams, safety seats, etc around!
