I have a '04 320d with 204000km now. There is a couple of issues thats driving me a bit mad now. Firstly when you start car in morning or after it been sitting the whole day, it has a very lumpy idle like it wants to cut out and got a bit of white smoke out the exhaust for 30 seconds or so from the time you start it.
Then when you driving along sometimes there is no boost at all or it will kick in at around 3700rpm. Other times boosts just fine.
Would a replacement turbo cure both issues or do I have major problems coming up? Other than these two issues car runs great. I still get about 900 - 950km on a tank, that is mixed 65% highway and 35% town.
