E46 318Ti query

hi guys

I'm having issues with a 2001 318Ti that sounds n idle's smooth. As soon as I touch the accelerator the engine revs smoothly but it sounds rough (almost like a diesel) :thinking: The power delivery is allittle low overall and extremely inconsistent in 1500-4000rpm range...It was serviced about a month ago :dunno:

i had a similar noise on my car , turned out to be big ends and main bearings that were causing the noise , due incorrect oil that was put in when the car was serviced , caused the oil pump to bust there fore starving the bearings of oil.

first check what oil they used.
i use this SLX PROFESSIONAL 5W-40 as per my Haynes this is the recommended oil

Will this explain the inconsistent power delivery between 1500-4000rpm ?

It might explain it, my brother's 2000 e46 318i had this dead area around 3000rpm where you could stomp on the accelerator, but nothing would really happen, oil, air filter and plug change later the car is now running perfect again.
