E39 Sportpack Bumpers

Other than importing or handing the friendly fella at the BMW sales counter some scented lube anyone know of a place where one can source E39 front and rear Sportpack bumpers?

Mine front one got in a altercation with a flowerpot and now i might as well go full hog and fit some silly bumpers. I can find some for the front on Scumtree but the rear seems to be quite a hard thing to nail down.

Good luck.

Even from the dealers these are gonna need importing from Germany.

Post some pics of the 5er :=):

If you going oem, you will need the lower front wheel Wells and engine cover at the bottom. So it's quite expensive.

Not too sure what's required with the Gumtree ones

Gumtree ones are ten to one OEM from a stripped 5er (RIP).

But yes, to convert non sportpack to sportpack is a costly exercise.

Nope they are most certainly aftermarket and by most accounts a direct fit from what i have red on US forums.

No pics yet as she looks a bit sorry for herself but it's a low millage 2003 525i in accountant silver on grey leather. But talking of stripped ones, i picked one up for R8500. No engine, gearbox, headligts or bonnet but all the other bits. Even has the ERRB that i will retrofit to mine.

Two of the fron PDC sensors on mine is toast and one rear. Those from BMW would come to nearly 1/2 the price of the car collected. And it has all 8.

Aftermarket bumpers for a fiver :slow:

Given these cars are worthless and i am still a accountant at heart blowing 30K on BMW originals on something that can't even fetch 60K just seems silly.

so which would fetch a better $$$ ?
an original without mods, or an original modified with OEM parts to look the part of another model which it never was ?

Depends how much u spent on the OEM mods. Most likely won't get back anything you put in

If it was a M5 the stock one. But the rest it's a difficult question.

Do what you like, make sure it was a job well done (ie fit & finish) and don't ruin the main goal of the machine. If i can't find place that supplies both front and rear, i will just get the bumpers repaired on mine and resprayed.

Well, in my humble opinion, that depends if you do the spending with the aim of selling to make a few $$$, or not.
As an avid E39'er, it is my opinion (again), that we - E39 Fanatics - tend to spend a few $$$ because of the privilege, and honour, of owning one.
Let me be clear, I much rather prefer stock OEM as per original equipment specs, as opposed to "modding" a car. The ONLY thing not stock (as per my VIN) are the rotors and pads, which are non-OEM (rear pads are OEM). Oh, and I fitted chrome dial rings on the dash cluster, but I am certain that does not qualify as "modding my chariot".
I am privileged to drive an 1998/04 E39 540i 6-Speed Individual. I bought this car for a decent price (considering its age and mileage) and paid R60k. I have recently spent upwards of R80k on this car. That is a cost of upwards of R140k. No, I will NEVER get my money back, but that was never my intention. At least my car is as stock OEM as possible, looks good, drives like a dream, and instead of the indicated 366k mileage, I "know" it has only 163k on "the clock".
Just my tuppence-ha'penny's worth.

Cheers !!

I don't think that bumper is the correct sport bumper for that year.

Well, besides the "cut-out" for the non OEM exhaust system (which I forgot to mention), it is the specced M-Sport bumpers. (AFAIK)

isnt it supposed to come with this front bumper?
to match the rear? Ive seen a few early models with the same rear as yours and front like below.

I hear you. Mine doesn't have the "Sport Pack" bumpers, but rather the "M-Sport Aero-kit", as per M5. This is depicted in the VIN decoder.

The rear bumper is correct to the prefacelift models, the front bumper on your car is from the facelift msport models and the M5.
