E39 pdc

Hi guys

My pdc is not working...did a scan and it says front left...i then went and listened to each sensor and both the front left sensors are not clicking...

BMW are just crazy with their prices..

What are my options? Do the sensors generally fail or is it a wiring issue?

My PDC on E39 also doesn't work, when I put car in reverse it just beeps for few seconds but nothing else happens when I am close to an object or anything.

I think its a wiring issue because only once they changed by rear bumper this started happening.

Ever Pondered about the fact that it could be the sensor itself ? Get a couple of sensors (for the E39) froma breakers yard and try 'em out

Finally took the bumper off. One sensor had a broken wire...a bit of soldering and it was working. Another sensor was completely dead. Took a drive to Beemow and bought 2 (one for spare). Connected the new one and the system is now fully operational. :joy:

Glad to hear you sorted it out. I wouldn't be surprised if it was damaged by someone previously who tried to remove the bumper or something...?

pdc is like a chick feature. its there to help you feel at ease if you borrow the car to the wife or girlfriend.

Sensors were R200 each...
