E39 Facelift headlamps

Hi

I have the facelift E39 and the headlamps have dimmed over the years, lights are very bad at night. Ive tried globes like phillps diamond vision an osram night breakers they make a slight difference but not much. Ive decided to change the headlamps but it being an old car I dont want original new ones. What do you guys suggest I do? Had a HID kit in the previous E39 the one control box was faulty and it kept making my globe sensors appear. :thumbdo:

Is it perhaps dim because the adjusters are broken and they are pointing down only???

Maybe check this out first before buying new headlamps.

No they focused right they just dim, the lenses are the problem but few pepole who sell un-original BMW parts say the lenses are more expensive than the actual headlamps. And apparently facelift headlamps are not as popular as the pre facelift. I dont know what to do now,

Maybe you can have them polished. I recall someone offering that service on the forum a while ago.

I also have a guy who cleaned mine... man is a genius with lights. Was just about to get new ones, cause they were so dirty and barely pushing any light at night. And this man came and cleaned them for me. If u havent sorted yours out yet, can give you his contacts. He also does work for a lot of the dealerships.

His name is Madoda and his number is 083 875 5959. Give him a call and arrange with him. He does house calls as well or you can arrange to meet him at work. Takes anything between 1-3 hours, depending on the dirt on the lights. Just tell him I sent you, he should be able to give u a good price. My lights still look brand new because of that oak and my car is 11 years old already.
