On the other hand if your car sounds like its working very hard when lightly touching the throttle, your mass air flow meter could be problematic, I only say this as I was having high consumption and strange throttle response in my old 328i when my maf messed up. May Just want to have that looked at.

someone else also suggested MAF

hope it does not come to that, from what i heard it is 4 K.

For what it is worth... ja 7.5 km/litre or 13.33litre/100km is pretty fair for in town driving for a 530i. Never take people seriously who claim their 530i is getting "10km per litre in town" or their 540i is getting "9km per litre in town" as it is HOGWASH. Yes these vehicles have "good" consumption - IN COMPARISON TO VEHICLES IN THE PAST THAT HAD 6/8 CYLINDERS!!

With the 540i you are looking at about 19 litres/100km in town, that is 5.3 km per litre.

so i had my car on a lift this morning to get somebody elses opinion on decat, anyway.i only found 2 lambda sensors .1 before each cat. and only 2 cat's.

if the car had four lambda's, would they have been directly after the cats?

so now the hunt for catless headers continuous.

They should be right on the outlet side of the cats. check at realoem.com.

If there are only two, then there is no need for cat foolers, but I still think it is worth it to replace the two you have in there if you can get them at a decent price (but stick to OEM brands, no aftermarket BS). Maybe call Midas (ex autozone) in Edward ave, they deal with bosch parts, and you can bargain on price with them. But you will have to order on part number.

i have checked on real oem, there they show 4 probes, but this morning i could not find 4.only 2.witch is good news, and i did check where they show.

anyway, i am waiting on a friend whom said he might have som spare probes.i am keeping my fingers crossed.

i thought that if you only had 2 cats they would be further down...

that is what i thought as well.

anyway, just found a 528 exhaust manifolds with lambda's still in it.

now i just need to figure out if it will fit for sure and if the lambda's will work.

DAMMIT!!!

although i can not use the sensors in the 528 manifolds,is R800 a good price for the manifolds with 2 oxygen sensors?

sheesh, people are crazy or i haven't had anything done to an exhaust for a while.

to remove my current manifolds and replace them with the 528 ones and make 2 pieces of pipe to connect the new manifolds , noise boys in centurion quote was R1800 and another said in the region of 2k.

is this what exhaust related stuff cost's now?
or am i just a cheap skate?

did you try Conti partner? You should also barter with them, they make up the price based on the car you arrive in...

that is more or less what i had in mind as well.

@ P1000, conti partner?

o ye, has anybody ever used the universal bosch lambda probes?
they are R550 at diesel electric.they recon it will work.but i would have to cut and join the wires, not very keen on that.i think it is a LS 7 sensor(i think.)

Heinrich, avoid generic probes. You should be able to get the correct probe for around that price if you read my posts and follow the advice.

Conti partner is in Heuwel ave, they will do it cheapcheap.

i would rather do what you said concerning lambda probes.
