E39 525i decat

I know this may have been discussed before. I have a rattle by my exhaust manifold when the car has run for a while eg 30min I first thought it was the heat Shields but after closer inspection I noticed that it seems the rattle is from the cat itself. With the high mileage on my car (288k) I think it is time to do a de-cat.
What is the best way to do the de-cat and does this model need the cat foolers?

None needed.. your O2 sensors are Before the Cats i think. so you should be fine

Its a mission to Remove the Top cats if its those
The bottoms can just be cut off and replaced

If it is the TOP cats, 1 engine mount had to be removed from my car and the engine raised slightly to remove them.
Then the cats was cut out and stainless steal tubes welded in

Unfortunately it is the top cats the front one (1-3) is the one that is rattling.
I got a quote by Cowley in Montague gardens R4500 to make up a new manifold.

[/quote]I took the car to Noise boys today to have the cats cut out and have the down pipes made up they charged me R1800.00 . what a difference it made. The car feel so much more responsive and I can see my average fuel consumption has dropped from 16.5L down to 14.1L and that is just from Belville to Montague Gardens to Table view with a heavy foot (I'm enjoying the new found power).
Thanks again for the advice.
