E38 Round Up! - E38 Registry

Greetings Fellow BMWFanatics. Can we all post here if you own an e38!

My Baby:

1998 740i
GunMetal Silver
304,000kms

Extra's?
Suspect all the following were standard in '98 some of you may be able to correct me though.

PDC Front & Rear
Sun-roof
Car Phone
6 Disc Shuttle
Memory-electric Seats
Electric Steering Column Adjustment and Memory
DSP Radio
Auto-dimming Rear & Side Mirrors
Rear & Side Roller Blinds

Problems / Repairs / Modifications:
OBC Faded and Dead Pixels - FIXED (By Me)
Rear Muffler / Silencers Removed (Sounds great - better fuel consumption, 2l/100 improvement on the open road)
Grey Interior Leather worn - Will be repainted by local Meguiar's Shop - GREAT work!

Future Upgrades / Maintenance
16:9 Widescreen SatNav retrofit
Bluetooth Module added to phone
Supercharger kit (EVENTUALLY...)
Transmission Filter change and flush

Thats all I can think of now.....

Sounds like you got a really nice ride. How about some pics.

And that supercharger upgrade looks interesting ....

I'll have to download some soon.

That Supercharger kit is something else!!! Takes kW up to 310 (33% increase) and does unmentionable things to torque figures. But thats what R50k will buy you....... OUCH

In the words of Jeremy Clarkson..... "It has enough torques to tow......... the WORLD........"

:) I wanted one for Christmas, but Santa said I wasnt good enough.

A supercharged 7 would be a sleeper of note. Can just imagine a GTI driving pulling up next to this "grandad of a car" and getting embarrassed once the lights turn green ...

I know..... I often think how amusing it would be....

That said the old girl still weewees all over most of the jap scrap that try to play. That is the serious downside of the muffler delete... everyone thinks I want to dice, and being a red blooded male, when challenged, I do get tempted to drive her like I stole her.

As I said in another post.. I'm not sure I'll ever get rid of her.

Not mine, but nice anyways!!! And she can do that and more, just hard to take a pic while doing it myself ;)

Thinking of M60 reliability....Jandre's ex 540i rebuilt and within 100K km now an expensive project .Funny , one UK mag had a supercharger on a M60 with better figures than M62 4.4 !!! Will see if I can dig it out and scan...

Love the E38. I just saw a Stellenbosch-registered dark grey 728i Sport, with M-pars and all the rest. Must be a British import.

I am doing between 10 and 15,000kms a month, it just makes sense to use the 320d for that....

As a result my baby will sit and cry if she isnt loved and appreciated, so I'd rather she goes to a new home. :=):
