E36 Rear Brakes

So I was driving along when i started to notice a clinking sound from the back wheels... I drove like this for a few days and then i decided to have a look...

Of the two pads on the rear brake disc, the inside one is loose... you can rattle it around... it doesn't look or feel like it could fall out... its like this on both sides just more on the passenger side...

Is this normal?

definitely not, waht exactly is loose? the caliper or the pads?

The caliper is rock solid and disc is solid too... its just the pad... and only the one, the outside one is firm...

The retaining spring/clip on the front of the caliper is probably out of place allowing the pad to move quite a bit, put it back in place and the noise should be gone
