My M44 does not want start. I get dash lights but no swing.

This occurred after the battery ran down and was swopped.

Hmm i know you say you swopped the battery, but have you tried jump starting the car?

Yes I did even tried a t
ow start

ok, so you gonna have to work backwards. First check your fuses, one might have blown when you changed the battery.
Make sure the battery has a charge, make sure it is installed correctly.
Do you have an alarm, with a immobilizer, anti hijack kicked in?

My guess is it is something electric.

Can you bump start the car? If so then I suspect your ignition switch is on its way out. Had the same on my E36 years ago, starter worked fine if you applied 12v direct to the solenoid, made up a temporary engine start button until I figured out it was the ignition switch failing. There was a voltage loss through the ignition switch and the starter solenoid was only getting around 9v when it should get 12v. For that reason the starter wouldn't work or start the car.

Or, your starter solenoid has packed up if the car bump starts.

I did a direct line to the starter and it swung and does not fire up. Did it with the ignition on

Waiting for this to come back. I sent the key and ews away to see if its reading and it was fine. I took the dme out and sent the three units away for further testing. A friend with the same car is coming this morning to donate his parts for testing purposes in order for us to identify the issue

So it turned out to be my DME. I had an extra dme and ews in my scrap car. I had a new chip coded by key boutique and boom she fired up. Problem solved.

Thanks for the suggestion and assistance
