Hi guys , My car normally starts with one swing. I just parked it last night and now it just swings and wont start. :dunno: There is petrol and battery went dead but it is ok now. Please help with possible suggestions to the cause of this.

this is the first time i have had a problem with it and the relay and fuses seem ok. what do I look out for on the petrol pump and what other causes could there be? my other car was in an accident so now im stranded. :banghead: :bawling:

Do you hear the petrol pump buzz, when you first switch on the ignition?
That would be the starting point for fuel pump diagnosis. Good luck.

thanks 444yyy the pump does not really sound, also I boosted the battery but it keeps dying and the ignition swings and sounds as if it want to take but dont. Both was 100% before I parked last night? what am I looking at for a pump?

Thanks hoosain, I am useless with these things but I am learning, where do I find the crank angle sensor? :dunno: :slap:

The pump is under the rear seat... Remove the rear seat, remove round black cover, and inspect the pump... Check power to the pump. U should also feel it pumping, when you switch the ignition on... Please be careful, there could be fuel vapor present, esp when checking electrical stuff...

The thing about electrical components is that when they break it can be very sudden. My uncle had the crank sensor give out on the morning that they had planned to go on holiday in the car.

Ok let's just say that this is a crank sensor fault. What would be the cost be to replace that?

I'd also say fuel pump or crank position sensor.

i had my sensor go and my car would not start- this is what just the sensor cost me from the stealers.

Crankshaft sensor (original BMW part) R 1,550.00
