E36 328i warnings??

Hi all

Does any1 no why my car warns me that my washer fluid is always low no matter how mch i fill it????
It also tells me that my brake lights hav failed but they r fine??

Sum1 any1 PLZ help its drivin me insane:cursin:

Ha ha! Mine does exactly the same, i think its a conspiracy!

Because that little float sensor is either stuck or buggered. Have you taken the float out and checked that it's working correctly in a glass of water or whatever?

common problem with E36

mine used to tell me that the break lights had failed, mean while only one had failed.
what i did was remove the lights, make direct connections, wire goes directly to the globe, kinda forced the wire into the connector plugs and a little solder, bang.. bobs your aunty, fanny's your uncle it works and i have never had a problem since.
as for the washer fluid, go on what the major says above.

Had a similar problem with brake lights on the E39. As above, remove the lights and check the connections - contacts just needed to be cleaned on mine and all was fine after that.

Solder or a bit of filing/sanding usually does the trick on the contacts.

It helps if you got a multimeter with a "continuity tester" function, as you can trace exactly where the faulty connection is.

Had same problem with e36 brake lights , found they seem to like better quality globes ( osram etc ) than Midas cheepies ( different resistances ? ) .Clean float , have done this .
