E36 328i issues

Good day guys so my E36 is at it again....started her last night and she had a whine....so I switched it off n left her....then this morning I started to check if I was maybe not dreaming....and still winning from da engine bay....I dunno now what to do....it's at idle and when you rev the car.....please help diagnose

Check your belt tensioner pulleys. When the bearings are shot they give a high pitched whine.

Could be any of the rotating elements. Also suspect alternator. Remove the cooling duct, stick one end of a hose pipe inside there and the other endin your ear. It it's real loud then that is the culprit.

You can use this method to track the source. just watch your fingers near the fan and pulleys.

Alternator rebuild is about R450 for only the bearings. Otherwise about R1200 for complete rebuild.

Purchased oem tensioner pulley....and sent the alternator for repairs.....soooo they were the culprits.....damn

alternator had a full rebuild done working well now..... though car is standing as I found some other stuff wrong

A way to check the tensioner pulley is to give it a squirt of Q20. That quietens it, but not for long.
