E36 318is overheating urgent

Hi guys, recently been experiencing overheating almost every day, the bleed screw is not tightening full, just turns, loosing water maybe through there and every day that I fill water, I have to open the bleeding screw, could that be the issue and can I use thread tape to seal it, urgent please as I do not want to blow the head. Thank you

Your cooling system needs to be air tight. If the bleed screw is not tightening down properly then you will be losing coolant and introducing air into the system. Remember it's plastic so attempting to over tighten it is never a good idea... Thread tape might help but you should really replace the screw with an OEM part, assuming the thread on the radiator side isn't damaged.

Without being the bearer of bad news, it also only takes 1 overheating episode to kill a motor. Avoid driving it if at all possible.

Would you be prepared to chance your engine for the sake of a R10/R50/R100 bleed screw?

Get a replacement screw asap and if that doesn’t resolve the issue, consider replacing the expansion tank too.

Any idea around northriding we're I can get the bleed screw, not familiar with the area, just started work after 2 long years of hardship, also that air intake pipe, mine is oval at the throttle body, not round, can't go around that shape. TIA
