E36 318i Oil Q

Having a bit of a brainfart day today... What is the correct spec Oil for my 318i (M42)?
Recommendations for a decent brand? I see Mobil1 being mentioned quite often.
Oh, my mileage is 110 250km, so does it make a difference if i use semi-synth or fully synth oil?

Any modern day oil will do, stick with a 5W40 and get something with a BMW Approval on the can and an API rating higher than an SG.

I dont recommend Fully Synthetic as in your motor there will be virtually no benefit over a standard hydro-cracked oil.

that has very bad start up protection :yuck: you want a 5w40 or a 0w40

Yeah, Ill go with a 5w40 on the next oil change. Hopefully won't cause any issues further down the line
