E36 1996 318iS What petrol to use

Hi, what petrol are you putting into your E36 318iS, leadfree or LRP
Would it be wise to alternate between the two, or maybe 2x leadfree and then LRP, or vice versa?

Owners handbook pg 18 gives unleaded for cars with cats .If the lrp does not contaminate the cat and oxygen sensor it should be ok . Have decat done .

You shoould only fill with unleaded, LRP will damage your cat

Sorry to barge in here. I've got a 316i (M43) and would also like to know what petrol to use? How would I know if it's got a cat?

After i got the advice from you guys i noticed that the petrol flap has a sticker on it saying that i must use unleaded only in my car. Also, the handbook says the same. Funny thing is i did not see any cat in the exhaust system when i had it on a lift last week!! (i am not talking about a furry animal) (and neither a hedgehog)!!

no cat - you are lucky.....get a 328i -it has two cats !!
