Us E34 owners all know that the damn hood keeps knocking onto either one or both of the wiper arms when closing it.
I found this, while searching on how to remove the wiper arms :mmm:

The wiper arms are not the cause of the problem. Take a look at the hood when it's closed and notice that it sits a little lower compared to the tops of the fenders near the base of the windshield. Now open the hood and have a look at the latches that the rollers/wheels seat into when the hood closes. Have you ever had the hood slam shut from the wind or fall back and shut due to soggy hood shocks? You'll notice that the latches have been knocked down little by little thru the years. The brackets are adjustable. If you loosen the brackets' bolts and raise the hood brackets back up to their original height, you'll find the wiper arms no longer rub the underside of the hood -- problem solved!"
