Hi guys

Just wanted to know where can one call to get spares for this model.
My dad is trying to sell his 1989 750iL as he works in Ghana and does not drive the car any more and I've told him he should replace some of the bits missing before he does to improve his chance of sale.

So if there are any CPT spare parts dealers for this model please could some one let me know.

Thanks

Paging Rick540.... Rick540 to the thread please....

WHat you looking for bud ?

QUite a bit of the engine spares will be OEM or ebay only, but pretty much everything else from your local scrapyard I would think...

If your missing engine bits, you may just want to buy a complete motor from a yard, they go for about 5k cause nobody wants/needs them.

Realistically though, dont spend too much money on trying to get her ready for sale, the saddest thing in the world is that she is not worth much, so dropping 20k on her right now, you wont get back....

You are looking at about 10 to 12k for a rust bucket, 25k to 30k for a decent condition/complete driving car, 35 to 40k for a prestine example.....

Its horrible but thats your market, sucks does it not...

Post some pics..

Oh ok, he is only looking for 15-20k for it its in running condition, but getting the bits would be silly in that case.

Hmm wonder where he could advertise it as its a large model as well.

Post some pics up here, there are a couple of guys here that will take it I am sure....

Problem with that car is the wierd engine designation, while that is what makes the car unique, spares are not as freely available as what it is for say the M60 which is the V8.

However, there are a couple of nuts, myself included who would snap this up, I just dont have the bux right now...

Whats missing, what needs to be done.

Rick540 just sat straight up in his chair and his nose started twitching.

Please tell me more about this car I have been looking for five years for one, it's like the holy grail for me to find a good one. I did actually a while back find a LHD short wheelbase 750i but it promptly caught fire on me, so I'm looking again.

I know of two absoloutly mint examples on open offer to me going for 35K each, so not sure what your dad would ask?

To those reading this thread, I want a 750Il for the novelty aspect and a promise I made to myself years ago. They must be the worlds most impractical car in terms of it's massiveness and cost of parts, but they are uber BMW cool and I might drive it twice a year when I do find one lol

Agreed with rick, the M60 E32 or 740 short wheel base would be far more "sensible" buy.. But who wants to be sensible....

@ Redeemer , Get some photies bud, and give us a write up as to what needs to be done, what bits you need.

Rick750iL will snap this one up I am sure, depending on the condition, if there fore example is a family of squirrels living in Cylinder 11, it would be a problem :)

Right :) well it seems i'll be the one getting all the info from my dad and posting it up here for you guys.
If any one wants me to call them or otherwise drop me a pm and i'll call you back to discuss.

The reason why he is selling is that he works 3mths in ghana and then back home for 2 weeks, and has no need for it.
Also he is buying my 320i E36 as I'm immigrating.

Its a daily runner, my mom uses it to do her shopping in twice a month :) so the motor runs.
He has new tyres on and bought a new battery 6mths ago.

As for the few things needed as from what I can recall its :
1. The centre Dashboard needs to be replaced ( fuel and temp and mileage readout is dead ) was told by bruce bmws R800 replacement.
2. The window and headlights washer heads don't spray.
3.The little plate with the sunroof controls is lose and needs re-glueing.
4. Aircon needs regassing.

Motor had a minor service done by Bruce's BMW.
I'll snap a few pics for it tomorrow and put it up.

With regards to the kilos, it's about 200 000 my dad reckons as the dash readout is not lit.
Going to eversdal this morning so will try yet a few shots and upload it quickly.

Just a side note we are based in big bay cpt, and my dad is leaving back to Ghana Tuesday/Wednesday so he is trying to get it sold before then :)

Nope that's another similar one. Guys battle to sell them

Why is it difficult to sell them?

Spares to expensive, or unavailable?

High maintenance cost?

High running cost?
