Because if there senor is damaged it would'nt send a signal to the ecu, hence the timing etc would not be calculated and the ecu would not be able to order a firing sequence. That sensor is a proxy sensor the cuts on the wheel tell the ecu at what angle the crank is and some the calcs are done from that.

No, I'm asking because that is what Clutchplate also mentioned. I posted earlier about my dad's SUV that got a similar problem and 3 mechies later and they still don't have a cure. I'll have him look into this one. :thumbsup:
