E30 M3 porn....

Oh my hat...

Sure, there are big turbo E30's, a few running S50/S54 M3 motors, and even a V10 monster in Europe...

But this thing gives me goosebumps - looks factory fresh, with a proper era-related engine swop - that looks completely OEM. If you didn't know it didn't originally leave the factory with with an S38, you'd never have guessed it was a conversion.

As awesome as this is, I would say it is pretty dumb to put a S38 in an e30 as you don't want an even heavier front end on a car that already suffers from explosive overseer in even its weaker engined models.

Also I don't see why this guy would go through all this trouble to then just put in a bus steering wheel and fit a hideous c/f bonnet that doesn't even fit properly :nonono:

Edit: Oh and you put a cone filter on an S38......really.

Dude cmon, did you get out of the wrong side of the bed this morning?

This car is flippin awesome by any standard, it's really unique and must have cost this guy a bunch. Who cares about the extra weight it must be a straight line dragster of note.

With the correctly sprung suspension, I think a lot of the extra front weight could be compensated for...

Also, isn't the usual complaint with a heavier engine up front that the car would push wide and understeer??

Either way - purists might disagree, but I think this is simply as goods it gets in an E30

might be the perfect M3? the steering wheel is really horible but I do like the carbon bonnet with the black. its like the carbon roof with the new M3, just sort the gaps then im happy.

is there really fault to be found with this car? everything looks perfect. those waterbottles did it for me, its soooo soooo clean and shiny and I want!! a new waterbottle from bmw is somewhere close to 1.5K...

Is 40kg extra on top of the front wheels really all that much, if you compare it to an S14? And being offset by the carbon bonnet, considering the stock bonnet weighs 17kg? You say suffers from explosive oversteer, I say enjoys. :)

The only thing that makes me uncomfortable on this car is the fan. If his engine mounts wear even a little bit that radiator is going down.

Ok well maybe it engine doesn't make that much difference, though I have spoken to guys, they say that the weight of the big sixes tend to negatively the handling of the e30, so it is not really worth it unless it came standard with it, ie 333i.

This would have been good on any e30, but why do this to a M3, and remember you had to have a M5 as well to do this. Personally I thing the e30 M3 was perfect as it is, BMW new what they were doing with the engine and chassis balance, leave it at that same with other M cars.

maybe the engine blew up? maybe that engine just dont cut it by modern standards, its not much faster than an IS (if any) and that runs with GTIs on a good day. but I get what you saying, M cars are usually better off not touching them, but we dont know his motivation. id rather just marvel at what has been achieved and the beauty. the world would be a boring place if no cars were modified. after all an M car is just a car at the end of the day:fencelook:

Alpina M3 B6 3.5S is the only other Factory produced E30 M3 with a big I6 motor (apart from the 333i), and that car is 125kg heavier than the standard E30 M3 and that car is still regarded as one of Alpina's finest efforts ever..Somehow I think Alpina knew what they were doing there more than some guys might think they know over here in SA. That is my 0.2cents.

This is an epicly neat build WOW! Check out the radio and those seats! The amount of effort this guy has put into this car is incredible! That interior is stunningly restored.
Bearing in mind this car is 21years old, it is stunning!

Interior better than some new Ta , Ch .......etc :thumbs:
. A 325i 2 door with similar engine was tested in England by a bm magazine and the car could pull foot flat in second in the wet without problems .
