Hi Guyz

I have a 318 boxshape:

So yesterday afternoon my car just switched off while driving,it never ever did this before.

Today morning i started it in the morning and it was idling and suddenly just switched off.

Drove it to work and at the boom gates it switched off.

It starts with no issues after it switches off.

What could be the problem?

Hi Lamboz,

Have you got the factory immobiliser system in place still? That is possibly your problem.

Have it checked, the unti might have dry connections in it due to its age, if its the original, have it replaced with an aftermarket system...Hope it helps.

No i already have an aftermarket level 4 system.

Could it not be the fuel filter??

Doubt its fuel filter.
Check the Idle Control Valve.
Can remove it and clean it with carb cleaner.

Fuel pump?

When it switches off and you try accelerating it like starves for petrol and switches off then it takes some time to start again.

use a little Q20 to give it a little lube after cleaning, If its bone dry it wont move quick enough...


Also check all your relays, If you got some rain like we did last weekend you might have some condensation in them....

I think it could be one of your relays, maybe the fuel pump relay?

Fuel starvation is usually related to fuel pump problems. Check relays and fuses.

Problem has been sorted out.

It was the alarm system.

I removed it and car is back to normal:bravo:
