E30 325i Box

Hi Guys

My car has a heavy vibration while driving it!

What could be the cause?

Someone said it could be the Propshaft?

Thanks

Which car? E30?

Normally if it's the E30 it is the guibo or the centre prop shaft bearing, it can also be something as simple as bent, buckled or unbalanced wheel rim(s).

lol:rollsmile: no man just bought the car

Check wheteher wheel nuts are tight, and it is possible that you are running rims which are not offset 20 and are currently fitted with spacers. Then propshaft or coupling. Even universal joints. These were causes of vibrations on the e30s I owned previously

Check lower control arms and ball joints.

if its not that, then as per what the other guys have mentioned. Propshaft coupling(Guibo) is the culprit.

Shock condition too, coupled with a wonky suspension and connections = vibration.

What work was recently done on the car? Clutch replacement? If so, there could also be an issue of mis-aligned propshaft, if any work was done(removal of box or anything drive train related), there is a chance that the prop wasnt marked before removal.

Congrats on the "Matchbox" :bravo:

Wheels and rims from Autostyle, they sell some super rims, I would get a set of BBS reps if I was you, also I see in Speed And Sound magazine another place got the E36 M3 reps back in stock.

The guibo from any reputable spares shop, centre bearing from Bearing Man.

If it is the 325i, I would look at all the mountings - engine, gearbox, diff, all these come at a very reasonable price from Midas, Autozone or Goldwagen, unless you want to buy the logo at double or triple the price from BMW

Clutch only causes vibration when pulling off in 1st or reverse, from a fellow "Boxie" owner, how to tell it is the front suspension - while you drive the middle of the dashboard bounces/vibrates :=):

You just got one of the most iconic bmw/car ever built....and you already want a e36....:nonono:

Perhaps i suggest, honorable member, that you retract that hideous statement:ty:....all the e30 guys will support me on this one...nothing wrong with an e36 or e46, but it just aint the e30....

You will be "spyt" once you sell it....ask me, I know!!!!:flyfun:

Check the gum and see what the market says they are worth. The vibration is most likely just the guibo(donut) or centre bearing on the prop as mentioned above. Very Easy fix.

About the viscous:

Does anyone here know where one can find or buy the 3-point switch that screws into the radiator that lets the electric fan in front of the radiator kick in at about 1/4 at low speed on the temp gauge and at high speed halfway on the temp gauge?

Congrats on the car:bravo:

If the vibration is not caused by tyre pressure/balancing or alignment, check out the diff/coupling

I had this issue when I changed my diff, it was said to be an LSD diff but was not and then there was a vibration as the revs climbed, changed the diff again to a proper LSD diff and the vibration was gone.
