I was hopin to find out where i could get this car restored, i don't trust regular mechanics with it. This m535i is my grandad's and only ever did 7000kms. I'm located in jhb and would appreciate it if someone could give me contact details on who could restore it... Thanks in advance

I regret the day we sold our one. Ice white, immaculate with shweeet 17' Ewings on her!

How much restoration could your one possibly need if she's only got 7000kms on her! She's a keeper bro, dont let this one slip through your fingers!

Post some pics please! Pictures just does it for me!

Fuzzy, you gotta love that sales pitch...straight into your soft spot!

Classicman, I can aquire one for less that R15 in a very decent state, still got the original 3.5 motor and good interior.

Aaaah, but not an e12 version I bet. The e28's and e12/28 versions are not as scarce and sought after as the e12's. It's like comparing an M3 to a M3csl - no comparison I'm afraid:nono:

Aah, now I see a light. The owner told me that it's the 'heavy' version '84 model, so that would automatically make it an E28?

E12 - 1972 to 1981
E28 - 1981 to 1988

Using my cell so its a bit tough to post pics, i'll try soon.

Even though its only done 7000km it hasn't been started in 15 years and its been outside exposed to the elements for about 5 years. Private message me if you have contact details of who could help me out. Shouldn't be too much work... Should it?

Yours is the e12/28 (e12 body and mechanicals with e28 interior). The e28 was first built in Jan 85.

E28 fist built in Jan 85?
My one was from 83 or 84 (at least thats what my grandad remembers) so would it mean its probably the E12 as well?
I'll try post a pic tomorrow

Wiki gave the dates as 1981, does that refer to US models? (Or non-SA models?)

The rest of the world went to the e28 in '81. SA retained the e12 body and mechanicals and used the e28'3 interior until '85 when we caught up with the rest of the world. This hybrid was referred to as the e12/8 or e12/28.

I alway knew we were a bit slow... So if I obtain the original E12 interior and drop it into the E12/28 hybrid, I'd have a full-on E12 (on paper...)
