Hi all

I recently bought an e12 535i that i had been using for track and historic racing, i was out on track recently and ran the bearings, we think from a faulty oil pump.

But when i pulled the motor i saw that the block is stamped 3.0/3.3 and 126 9067

So clearly not an m90 motor as came original with the car, but what motor could this possibly be.

I am busy sourcing a new m90 what should i be on the look out for? the new motor is stamped 3.5 and has the painted white L on it.

THe M30 with the L painted is the most desirable.
Make sure you get the crank with it and you will be good to do 7000rpm provided you get the V stamped crank to hub nut.

The block you have can be bored.

The crank takes a nut in the nose to hold the hub.
The standard nut is a 36 socket as is the V stamped nut.
Order from BMW a nut for an M88 M5 engine
