E-Reader in SA

Hello Guys

I'm travelling to the Orient (Taiwan to be specific) in a few days and I want to get myself an E-Reader. I'm keen to get a device that uses that e-ink technology much like that of the Amazon 'Kindle' and the Barnes & Noble 'Nook'. I am only wanting to read books and news articles. I do not need colour to read magazines and nor do I need to surf websites or watch videos (else I'd probably just get an iPad).

Since most e-readers are linked to online book stores which are sadly mostly for the USA market.......my main question is this: Does anyone know which brand of e-reader allows connectivity to their respective online stores from South Africa?

AFAIK, you can get all the Amazon/Kindle content here without any issues.

or you can use Caliber to load pdfs, epubs, lits, etc from your PC

Haha. Thai 'girls' would come from Thailand. I won't have this concern since I'll be in Taiwan. Slight, but common misunderstanding. :roflol:

Apparently ordering directly from the Amazon site is the cheapest option.

Not really surprising - since the ads are targeted at USA people and paid for by USA companies? It is easy enough to remove the ads, but they are not really intrusive...
