Hi Guys,

this is what I'd like to buy and install into my 2001 330ci

http://www.stopshop.co.za/1967-buy-...pod-bluetooth-7-touchscreen-ssas-bmw010-.html

To do so I would have to remove my climate controls as my dash looks like this:

In the specs for the DVD it says "can-bus + aircon agreement", does that mean I can control the fan, aircon, heater via the dvd player ?

Many thanks for your help

Mac.

your climate control moves lower down to where the storage compartment is.

here's a complete "how to". http://forum.e46fanatics.com/showthread.php?t=390158

hope that helps

I think my climate controls my be too long to fit there. anyone know if the climate control unit size changed from 2001 to 2002 models?

hi,,

that was just a pic i found off the net to show the type of interior I have.

thanks for heads up on stopshop. Almost walked into that blindly!

I'm just unsure about the length of the climate unit and the sunglasses compartment being the same. I guess I'll have to measure it and get back to you guys.

thank you for being so cool. I'm a first time BMW owner and I've already been through, in the first month :

1. overheating due to water leak ( new thermo, waterpump, hoses, pressure tested radiator and expansion tank) (+/- R3000)
2. Broken disa flap (R2800)
3. Service (R2000)

next month : brakes.

You get a relocation bracket for the A/C controls (from BMW), the controls then go where the sunglass holder would normally be.

That is a hot unit. Looks like a good mod and still has that OEM look to it. Must start saving:bawling:

I'm gonna phone bmw supertech and ask them for the bracket. Anyone know a part number or what its actually called?

I'll do the mod myself. while I'm at it does anyone know where I can get silver/chrome replacement for the wood finish on the dash and doors?

Thanks so much! I will take photos of every step and put it up on here.

King,

Can you ask gizmo what else is needed , Imean besides the dvd player and the bracket.

Also will there be any cutting and trimming or is it just "unscrew ,remove, relocate, screw, watch dvd"?

Thanks

heres a guide : he is a bit unclear about the bracket though :

If it is a good nav system it should fit right in, no timming needed. I haven't done this before but the steps should be something like this:
-remove the trim on the passanger side
-then remove the trim around the radio, in both cases pry it loose with a butter knife wrapped in a cloth of some sort
-unscrew the radio pull it out and disconnect
-remove the sunglass holder by opening it and then pulling it outwards on the lid, it just clips in place
-remove the shift lever boot by pulling it inwards (towards the shift lever) and upwards at the base of the boot
-loosen the trim that surround the gear lever by removing the two screws (at the back)

-now remove the AC control panel, if I am not mistaken it also just clips in place.
-you should now be able to unscrew the whole bracket, unplug the buttons and remove it

after this it is just a case of putting in the new bracket and replacing everthing

Also note that there are two types of relocation brackets, the on take a single module containing all the buttons (DSC etc) and the other takes individual buttons, so just be sure to get the right one for your car.
