Drive safe, damnit!!!

A friend of my girlfriend was involved in an accident, along with a friend of her own.

The accident took place on Monday, and if I remember correctly it was in or near Stellenbosch. Megan's friend is okay, suffered only minor injuries. But the other friend is unresponsive as she has damage and bleeding to the brain.

The cause of the accident: a kitted out BMW driver, doing illegal races.

For the sake of others, if not for yourself, drive safe. Please. Keep the racing on the tracks.

BMW or any other car, road racers are the scum of the earth. There are plenty of places to go where they are only in danger of hurting themselves.

I lived in Stellenbosch for 7 years. Its a student town and i can testify that if you can drive in Stellenbosch you don't need an advance driving course.

The way people drive there is on a different level. You are basically doing 18 point checks every 10 secs. If its not a boy racer in his hatch or a beamer then its a girl in a mini or something similar chatting away or texting and jumping a red light.

And the road just outside Stellenbosch is basically a long straight with a few twists but NO STREETLIGHTS! Couple that with people speeding at 150 easily, roads lined with mud from Wine farm tractors and 'builders bakkies' left on the side of the road it becomes very dangerous.

VERY sorry to hear that ChefDJ, I hope there is no permanent damage.

Chris, you are spot on, most Stellenbosch road users pay VERY little attention to what they are doing. There is also a lot of money and arrogance here so people also drive 60 in the fast lane which in itself is a danger cause it forces the people wanting to go a little faster to take unnecessary risks. You really need to have your wits about you when are commute in and around Stellenbosch every day. Drive safe!
