Downpine & decat

Hi guys

So I got my car back this morning. Got the new turbo, had a detail done, and the DPF and decat removal done by Brandon at Pro Fit in Cape town.
Johan (Solo Man) was so nice to take me to fetch my car, we drove with that "wolf in sheeps clothes" 330d monster of him. That 330d is a totally different caliber car that I'm used to, the 2 or 3 times he just give it a little gas to overtake, you can feel the awesome 6cyl tractor power.

Drove it back from CT, about 160km, it sounds a bit different, the throttle response a bit better, and looks like the fuel comsumption is better (don't know if I'm imagining myself)

According to Brandon, no mapping is neccesary? Did a bit of research on "Google", and its seems some experts say you MUST do remapping to tell the car that there are not a DPF anymore.
But I feel nothing wrong with the car without mapping, actually like the sound of the turbo spooling that I didn't hear before.

Anyone perhaps know more or less how many kw's and nm's I gained with just the downpipe and dpf and cat removal, my car is 130kw and 350nm standard. Just curious?

Remapping or software will actually help with more performance, but that will only happen in a few months, must first recover financially for now lol

The guy from Potent Detailing really did a nice job, my car's paint is as smooth as a baby's bum.
The guy from Potent Detailing went out of his way for me. I can really recommend him to anybody, really did a great job.

Pity with a white car you can't really see the shiny results on a photo

Yes I'm like a small child now. Just asked my wife if we can't go and drive up and down in town. I just want to brag now lol.
Unfortunately 95% of the people here won't even see the difference, because they don't appreciate a nice clean car lol

He more than likely fitted cat foolers. If you never got an error message over 160 kms I doubt you will get one. The gains are minimal without software maybe 2kw. You're consumption will be slightly lower and your turbo will be very happy and last longer.

If you're not going to do software. I would suggest doing an egr delete. Enjoy the new sound. I love the sound mine makes!

How much did it cost to have the car decatted seeing as I'm in CPT.

He charged R1600 for the job.

This is the 'thing' they took out. According to him, and realoem.com this is the DPF and CAT all in one, I don't know?

Yeah netercol mentioned there is cat within the dpf. Not sure how it works.

Brandon is good and his prices are reasonable. Supposedly he cuts the cat in a way in which it can be reattached.

I've had both my cars done at him. And my 330d downpipe was only R800 because it was a 53mm pipe. When I do the turbo upgrade I'm going to see if some one can make a dp that goes from 63 to 73mm

Stiaan. Have the car remapped. You will then really enjoy the mods (the tune brings it all together) & the car as well.

That's the plan in the next few months, as said, just want to recover financially lol. $

What would you guys say? I sent a request for a quote to Race Chip, and they came back and said a RaceChip2 at R4500 will give me 30% more power, 169kw and I think 450nm?

Is that or Excede software the best option?
I'm thinking in terms of if I sell the car, I will def buy a 320d again, maybe just a newer model, and with the RaceChip I can plug it out and use it on the next vehicle, but my head tells me Software is better, don't know why lol.

You can switch the racechip to another car. Unless it's the same engine. But you can sell it to some one with the same car. If you are not planning any further mods and aren't going to keep the car forever I would go with a plug and play over a remap.

Stiaan EGR is exhaust gas recirculator. Takes exhaust gasses from the exhaust manifold and puts them back into the engine to reduce emissions. Obviously this is not good for the engine as you want clean air. If you get a remap they will turn it off it software. There are also simple ways to block it by plugging vacuum hoses so the valve is constantly shut. Just Google egr delete bmw. Doesn't matter what car they're all pretty much the same.
