Good evening, I wonder if someone could maybe advise or have had any same problems, the other morning my car just didnt want to start, engine is turning and everything, but since have played around and checking the wiring and came to this, if i move the attached wire in my engine the car would start straight away after that. i have attached a pic of the part i touched and then seems to start with no problem but just to mention also since it started given me problems this morning suddenly my ref counter and my heat gauge and is just lying down or not responding at all and my aircon also not blowing cold air anymore.

its a 1997 BMW E36 318i

any ideas what could be the problem?

most of the fuses are located under the bonnet on the E36, but there is another whole lot of relays located behind the passenger cubby hole, I am not sure what is all in there, except for the window relays (that I know as I repaired mine)

E36 starting problems make me want to run and hide.

Without having seen the pics, I would suggest you start by visiting realoem or another VIN decoder site to determine the exact build data of your car.

If the starter is cranking but the engine not firing up its probably not getting fuel, spark or both. Start by removing the back seat base and listening if the pump primes when your turn the key on (not starting the car). If it does then your fuel pump is still working. If not its pump related. The fuel pump relay and fuse sits in the fuse box in the engine bay.

If you rule that out as the culprit, the next step would be to check for spark.

Since you mentioned that by moving a particular wire it allows the car to start, it points to an electrical loose contact of some sorts so that would also be wise to sort that out.

Hope you get it sorted soon
