does your M30 also rattle when switching off?

I've always heard this rattle when switching the engine off. I think it might be the dual mass. I cannot place the sound other than the Dual Mass. Also, while idling, never when applying throttle.

Any ideas?

I am about 95% sure the M30 comes with a single mass flywheel and not a dual mass so I doubt that is where the sound is originating from.

Could just be the release bearing which is buggered, kind of hard to say from the video.

Hi Ricky. Sounds like a loose but not quite bad baffel in ur exhaust. Tqke it to q shop ans put on a hoist and try listening with someone switching the car off. Regards deryck

as mentioned above, take it a fitment centre that does exhausts, put it on the lift, and then investigate underneath.

Found the prob.there is a backet on the front side of the exhaust. It wqs loose and eventually fell off. Picked it up and secured properly. Issue gone. Tnks deryck

Someone mentioned it could be the release bearing. So, I've tried someone's test of depressing the clutch pedal when switching off and here is what i found:

With clutch pedal NOT depressed:

Well, it is better to have the clutch depressed when starting and stopping the engine anyway. Having a single mass flywheel I can only imagine the noise would be the release bearing, or something else within the gearbox possibly that's making this noise. FWIW, the E90, E46, and my Isuzu bakkie all make a similar rattling noise if you switch off with the clutch out, but never when the clutch is depressed.
