How do you know if your your car has chip and decat exhaust. Bought my 335i scond hand 2008, took it to 270km with ease, arent they governed to 250km. plus the exhaust has a nice sound to it and its standard. Advice?

rev limit?
check to see if the exhasut flap actuator has been open permanently
normaly u will see smoke and feel pressure from both sides on startup.
that could account for the sound?

maybe get your car on a ramp and check it out

well when the car is warm its normal
but if u start it from cold and it does that , it means the previous owner , did one of the following
1. he unplugged the solenoid
2.he cable tied the vaccum line to the actuator
3.he put a golf tee in the vaccum line

just check under the back bumper on the left hand exhaust pipe

Ramp it up to check for decat & the rest i agree with the advice from Anile and NO it is not a bad thing to have the actuator open all the time or the golf T - enjoy the new sound. However if the actuator is unplugged it will throw a code which will only go away if you delete the code an plug the actuator back in...
