Does anyone know why my new Gearbox would have a Shudder

I have a 2005 120i , I had the gearbox replaced by the dealership due to my second gear sticking, now with the brand new gearbox, I get a shudder in first gear between 3000 and 3500 RPM and also on second gear below 2000 RPM.

The dealership is scratching their heads and trying to tell me that this is normal for a 1 series.

Does anyone know what could be the problem?

OF course he is telling you that, cause BMW wont pay him again to strip and fix, if the box has to come off again, its at his cost.

Id check mountings, or clutch itself, open up a case with BMW and let them advise.

I was going to suggest propshaft, and then read the post again, and saw the different rpm's in various gears. Now I'm :dunno::thinking:

There is nothing inside the gearbox that should cause a shudder as far as I know. It might be the propshaft doing the suddering. Have all the mountings checked out as a bad mounting can cause all sorts of things. Also remember to check the center bearing.

centre bearing normally only gives u problems on hard acceleration.. and in first gear.
but this sounds like a strange one. could be something silly, but I'd say just take it back and force them to look at it again
