I've been looking into what engine hardware differences exist between the N57D30S1 in the M50D and it's other N57 cousins found in 30D/40D. I'm told that it essentially has an engine of similar spec but with totally different parts in it from different pistons(lower 16.0:1cr) and shorter rods, beefier bearings, higher alloy steel crank, cyl block w/ tension anchors, different heads w/ bigger valves. Is this indeed the case and is there anywhere that I can locate further details on it?
I short, I would like to know if the N57 in the F15 M50D is much stronger than other N57s in 30D/40D vehicles. If so, then how much more power can the longblock reliably hold before having issues?
Anyone happen to have any technical datasheets or Bimmer technician training manual PDFs that provide the details on any of this? It seems emperical information on this is sparse at best.
