osiris said:I don't want to sound negative, but I wouldn't stuff around with this unless you have a manual gearbox on that diesel of yours...I don't care if its an E90 bla bla bla stronger gearbox bla bla bla. these cars have such low mileage that the gearbox is still ok for a while. but it will break cause auto is a big pile of shit about to go wrong when you do engine and turbo mods, when it does u will pay big time or you will be stranded somewhere with your family in the car in the middle of no where and chances are your cellphone battery will be on its last legs.
Some guys are modifying the shit out of their e90 diesels and then pushing the brakes while planting the accelerator to get a nice quick pull off, because apparently the gearbox can handle it....ya its still new. give it some time and it will break.
If I were you I would look into other mods like bigger intercooler, down pipe etc. not something that is going to give you a sudden imense amount of power that is going to shock your gearbox into going nuclear on you!
osiris said:The x35s autoboxes are also breaking. Like I said these cars are new in comparison to the e46's so they just need time to break.
My buddy has a x35 and put software and drove it like and idiot, pressing breaks and pushing accelerator to get a hard launch and the gearbox popped too! Its all a matter of time.
Im not saying the OP shouldn't do it, its his choice, I'm just saying I wouldn't do this if its an auto because they do break and when they do its messy.
