:sorry: if that dent can't be pulled then you're looking at a new bonnet and paint. They are not cheap. Hope you come right.

You're going to get a 100 different answers as body work differs from shop to shop. Best is to get a quote from where you want the work done.

R5000 - R10 000 is my guess.

You've got bumper work and paint and then work on the hood. Maybe they'll be able to blend on the bonnet and not paint the whole thing. I have no idea.

With a bit of old fashioned hammering and filing, some body putty (maybe) and a lick of paint your bonnet will be good to go again.

If you don't like body putty, you can have a look around at the scrappys for an unmolested one. With a bit of luck you will find one in the same color.

I have a feeling that the big panelbeaters are only interested in insurance work, for which they can charge prices ranging from the ridiculous to the sublime. Your best bet is to find a smaller old-fashioned shop that still takes pride in their work. Are there any of them left?

Thanks a lot guys
@Photokid The owner of the X5 is refusing to pay

He cannot refuse to pay though if he's liable. Open a case with the police and take it from there?

he should not have left the scene and the police should have been called and him arrested for driving under the influence.

I would also open a docket against him and dont see why your insurance would give you hassle as long as the car was being driven with your permission. Sure there could higher excesses but all that would be claimed from the X5 owner.

Sorry about that bro. I agree with Sash. If u have comprehensive cover(which im assuming u do) your insurance company should approve your claim. Once its been approved their legal dept starts the recovery process with him/his insurer. You will pay an excess however if the recovery process is sucsessful, you would get your excess back
