I'm new on the forum. I'll be moving to Cape Town soon and will be staying in Bantry Bay.

Which nearby dealership can you recommend to service my new BMW 1 Series?

I agree with you Jeff, i was in there on monday to have a browse and was greeted enthusiatically and treated like royalty. The sales guy was awesome and he knew his stuff. I will definitely recommend SMG canal walk :thumbs:

Any opinions on 120d VS 118i?

Depends what you want out of the car really. The diesel will probably be more fuel efficient and have more torque over the 118i.
Have you contemplated a 125i maybe?

Yeah, that's Auto Atlantic. Tried them once, wasn't impressed and haven't heard the best stories about them.

Was down in CPT for holidays last December. Dropped my 323i off for a service at SMG Century city, decided to go party a little with my bro-in-law and friends. I phoned the service adviser later that day, and asked: "Hi buddy, I ended up in Strand, I'm having my 6th whiskey, wont want to fetch the car today"

Service Adviser responded: " no problem sir, have fun"

I got to SMG the next morning and was greeted by the service adviser, he asked me: "So sir, how you feeling" I said, "buddy ok, but got a babelas"
He walked me over to my car, which was parked inside on the floor, gave me a glass of water and two panado's while my car was being pulled out.

That is probably the greatest dealer in SA

Check out my review on the 118 under my username or on the home page. If you refering to the new 120d that we still waiting for?

Compare the 116 with the 118. My bet is still on the 116 being the pick of the bunch from all respects. The 120d for fuel economy but with the diesel price rising it cancels out the frugal benefit scored on the road.

Hmm, interesting thread! My car has to go in for its last motorplan covered service next month (Jan 2012), and I would like to take my Wife's car for a service inspection to make sure everything is spot on, so not wanting to go to a dealership only likely to annoy me!!

I was going to suggest Auto Atlantic, but after hearing the praise for SMG it not only makes me sad (as I used to work for Auto Atlantic) to say that I dont see you getting that service from Auto Atlantic. :nonono:
