Hi guys

I am hoping someone here can assist

I bought a e53 X5 2 months ago.

On collection of car I noticed the rear tires where shot, I got the dealership to replace them. took the car for alignment and it was completely out. in addition to the above the faults below were also found.

.Air conditioner was not working
.Air conditioner buttons were missing
.Front left indicator was not working
.PDC was not working

Question 1 is, how did the car pass roadworthy with all the above faults.
During my investigations, I also picked up the car has a S mark from SAPS,
Question 2, can a dealership sell a car without disclosing the SAPS "S" mark?
I would greatly appreciate any help.

regards

Dude CPA asks that all faults on the vehicle be disclosed prior to sale, if these faults were not disclosed to you when making the purchase you can insist on repair or refund. Don't let them take you for a ride. Not sure about the S mark thing though maybe Coisman can help there.

If the vehicle has a S mark on it its impossible to go through registration. What is a "S" mark??
It means there's a police enquiry on this vehicle.it was either stolen or involved in criminal activity

Wow.. that is next level bulls^%t !!

Dude, I work for a dealer and I can believe other dealers/salespeople can behave like this. The car would have never passed quality check which is compulory for every approved used BMW sold from a BMW dealer.

Take it back and take action if they refuse, you have a one way case if the CPA get involved.

Im so shocked!!!

Hey guys,

Got some feedback for you,

threatened the dealer with CPA, completed the CPA case application, and took it to the dealer.

the outcome:

The dealer will action all issues I have with the car at their cost, this includes the gearbox that sort of feels like i have been rear ended every time I come to a stop.

The S mark on the car was in fact not mine, the lady at the license dept. was a bit dyslectic and swapped the letters around.

I still feel the car is in good nik, and is a pleasure to drive, and being a BMW fan, I am prepared to sort her out proper.

However, I am still shocked at the level of crap we have to take from some dealers out there. If I did not seek assistance, I could really have been taken for a ride.

Thanks to all.

I suggest you take the vehicle for a proper check with a reputable BMW repair centre and ask them to quote on every fault they find. Submit quotation to dealer. My experience with ombud proved that dealers generally want you to think that you have only one month to return and get refunded but in fact the period is more like 6 months. Consider the time periods if you decide to have a rethink. Hope all goes well!

You can't expect the dealer to give you a faultless car. If you want a faultless car go buy a new car with motorplan.. Just my 2c

Faultless is too much to expect, I agree, but mechanically sound should not be too much to ask for.

even New cars have faults. I think If you buy a BMW Fanatics Car it would be even better than the day it came off the production line because they have sorted out all the problems

That is a good one. My list of things to fix gets longer rather than shorter.
