cupholder in rear arm rest wont close

Hi all,

anyone got some idea why my cup holder wont close? My kid opened and closed it and all of a sudden it won't close anymore. Looks stupid when the armrest is up and you stand behind the car.
On the internet i can't find drawings how the mechanism works. Only how to take the unit out.

I got an E46 Touring.

Help is appreciated.

My rear cupholders are now "deactivated" permenantly by cable ties. Cupholders are not one of bmw's strenghts at all.

Cupholders in my opinion is probably one the most senseless things to have (kinda like the cigarette lighter, not the socket of course), as I don't allow drinking in my car.

True I dont allow drinking in my car either or eating I hate food crumbs and stuff all over the place

Aaahhh, those were the days...wait till the kids come with the obligatory sticky fingers and assortment of snacks...

Tell a 5 year hold she's not allowed to drink in the car without having drama afterwards, good luck.

Anyway I hate it if I got features in the car that don't work, even though they might be useless.

Anyone with an idea what could be wrong?

That is why I don't have children :grin:

If you really must have children just have a car to transport them with, something cheap and brown, like an old toyota.

lol Sankekur we think the same.... ya I will get a VW Caravelle and then turn the inside it into a big play area for them and take them where ever they wanna go... as long as when daddy says he is going to take out his bmw today the kids know they have to behave!

Put a ball pit in the back of the caravelle that should keep them entertained :grin:

Just remember to put a massive snail in the caravelle, just because you look k@k doesn't mean you have to be slow :slow:
