As much of a BMW fan as I might be I am not afraid to say that this engine and the 5.0l V12 that it was based on where pretty pathetic to say the least 1987 and development of not.

Yup was used in the first jet fighter if I am not mistaken, not as well know the the Junkers jumo 005B (or 004B, can't quite remember) engines that where used in ME262, was some pretty awesome german engineering to say the least. Modern day jet engine are still based on these types of designs, where the british type engine kinda died out in the late 60's (if I am not mistaken).

To be fair, the engines weren't build to produce super high power. They were build to last. We know BMW could have those engines make tons more power if they wanted to if you think about the 6.1L V12 from the Mclaren F1 :thumb:

That is true, but I just find it kind of sad that the 5.0l V12 from that era produce less power than the 3.5l I6 in the M5, I know you can't really compare an M engine to a normal engine but still its a V12 for crying out loud, it should be... uhm...V12'ish :) (read awesome)
